The most common reason that your truck’s AC isn’t blowing cold air is that there is a problem with the compressor or the lines. If the compressor has gone bad it either won’t engage or won’t pump properly if it engages. There may also be a small leak in the system, which would require patching and recharging but would be cheaper than a compressor replacement.
To help diagnose AC problems in a truck, you’ll simply try to run the system, while watching and listening for issues or malfunctions. If the AC is turned on, but the clutch on the pulley doesn’t engage, the compressor may be bad. If the clutch on the compressor engages but no cold air comes out, there may be a problem with refrigerant loss. If you don’t hear your fans come on, it may be making cold air that just isn’t being sent your way.
